SAFETY FEATURES OF THE SFT GUARD
NEW GENERATION SFT DRIVESHAFTS
SAFETY
International safety standards are increasingly important criteria in
today's
global market place. Drawing upon Bondioli & Pavesi's experience and
commitment to safety, SFT driveshafts conform to the most stringent
standards, yet still provide ease of use and access for routine maintenance.
FUNCTION
SFT driveshafts are designed with the needs of the user in mind. Reduced
maintenance, more durable components, lighter weight, easier connections
to the shafts, and simplified lubrication are just some of the improved
features.
TECHNOLOGY
Improvements in production agriculture are the results of applied technology.
SFT is the synthesis of technologies gained by Bondioli & Pavesi in
the
manufacture of driveshafts since 1950. Constant research and exclusive
production techniques, combined with rigorous testing and quality controls
have enabled us to obtain high levels of performance in a compact driveshaft.
The needle roller bearings of the universal joint symbolize the technology
of our
new SFT driveshafts. Needle bearings are a small component, but vital
to the
performance and reliability of a universal joint driveshaft. Our bearings
have been
designed, tested, and manufactured by Bondioli & Pavesi, to provide
the best
driveshaft for our customers.
CROSS AND BEARING KITS
The cross and bearings are fundamental to the function of a drive shaft.
The
quality of the cross and bearings are directly related to the durability
and
life of a universal joint. These components received special attention
during the design of the SFT.
The SFT crosses may look ordinary, but they are the result of continuous
research and testing of materials, heat treatment, and optimisation of
dimensions. These factors, along with state of the art manufacturing
technology, make the SFT cross and bearings a product of outstanding
quality.
TELESCOPING PROFILE TUBES
The SFT project also motivated the design and development of a new type
of
telescopic tube with an innovative "Four-Tooth" profile. This
new profile
helps keep the weight and dimensions of the drive shaft to a minimum,
while
allowing improved strength, reduced thrust loads, greater durability,
and
longer intervals between greasing.
The dimensions of the "Four-Tooth" profile are the maximum compatible
with
the space available between the arms of the yoke, positioning the contact
surfaces of the tube at the maximum possible distance from the shaft centre.
This gives high resistance to torsional stress, combined with compact
dimensions and low weight, which all adds up to a stronger, more functional
drive shaft.
GREASING SYSTEM
The greasing system is available as an optional accessory to allow
lubrication of the telescoping profile tubes at any extension while the
drive shaft is still attached to the PTO and implement.
TORQUE LIMITERS AND OVERRUNNING CLUTCHES
The SFT range comprises a complete series of clutches capable of meeting
the
requirements of most agricultural implements:
One-way or overrunning clutches
Torsionally resilient couplings
Torque limiting clutches
Combination clutches
GUARDS
SFT guards are designed to allow longer intervals between maintenance
and
greasing.
The outer cones of the SFT guards extend past the end of the ears of the
inner tube yokes, even on shafts fitted with torque limiters or overrunning
clutches.
SFT guards are designed to allow adequate angular movement of the joints
without contact with torque limiters or overrunning clutches.
IMPLEMENT INPUT CONNECTION SHIELDS
The innovative SFT implement input connection shields are mounted on a
metal
plate, which may be bolted to the implement. A flexible outer guard is
fixed
to the metal plate by two lever clamps. Attachment of the drive shaft
and
maintenance operations are made easier by simply detaching the outer guard
from the metal plate and moving it out of the way along the shaft. A chain
connects the two parts together in conformance with ANSI/ASAE S493.
